How does the 6X News Verifier actually decide if something is true?

It first checks whether your link, claim, or clip matches coverage from one of 6X's own trusted news sources (BBC, Al Jazeera, NPR, WHO, and more), then falls back to a live web search checked against a real list of reputable outlets (Reuters, AP, major Nigerian/African news sites, and more) if nothing local matches. This is honest, real corroboration - not a magic truth detector. No tool, including ours, can prove something false just because it hasn't seen it covered yet.

What does the checkmark mean?

A ✅ means the link is from one of our trusted sources directly, or your claim matches a story one of them has actually published. No checkmark means we could not find matching coverage - treat it with normal caution, the same way you would any unconfirmed claim.

Can it check images or videos for deepfakes?

No - we are upfront about this. For an image, we read any visible text (like a screenshotted headline) and check that text. For audio or video, we transcribe the speech and check that. We do not and cannot detect a doctored photo or an AI-generated video from the file alone.

Can I share a link to this from another app?

Yes - once you install 6X on your phone, use your phone's normal Share button on any link or post and pick 6X. It opens straight into the verifier with that link already being checked.

How this actually works, honestly: 6X Verifier first checks whether what you submitted matches coverage from one of our own trusted news sources, then - if not - runs a real live web search and checks whether a genuinely reputable outlet (Reuters, AP, BBC, major Nigerian/African outlets, and more) has published it. That's real, useful signal - but it is not a magic truth detector, and no "unverified" result means something is false. It just means nothing we checked has covered it (yet, or ever) - a healthy reason to look further, not a verdict.

Checked against real sources

BBC, Al Jazeera, Africanews, NPR, WHO, TechCrunch, and more - the same trusted feeds already powering 6X News.
